Software Testing Checklist: What Belongs on It, Phase by Phase
This software testing checklist groups every item by the phase of the test process it belongs to, marks the items teams routinely skip, and shows how to wire the lis…
Vervali tests ecommerce platforms end to end: checkout and payment gateways, cart and promotions logic, catalogue and search, order and inventory flows, cross-device behaviour, accessibility and peak-season load. Teams cover Shopify and Shopify Plus, Magento, WooCommerce and custom stacks, in US hours, from an ISO/IEC 27001 environment.

A checkout that takes the money, keeps stock right, and works on the phones that already buy.
Does the customer pay, and does the store capture that payment when Stripe, PayPal or Adyen is slow, fails or returns a partial response. A broken checkout is abandoned revenue sitting in the cart.
This is where most silent revenue loss lives: stacking rules, gift cards, BOGO, threshold discounts and coupons that apply twice or not at all. The store looks fine. Margin and conversion are not.
Wrong price, missing variant, search that cannot find the SKU the ads promised. The customer leaves before a cart exists. Relevance is a sales problem, not a nice-to-have.
Including the failure cases when stock runs out mid-order, a warehouse is late, or the OMS and the storefront disagree. Oversell and ghost stock become chargebacks and support load.
Login, address books, wishlists, RMA and refunds that never hit the gateway. A return path that fails is a repeat customer you will not get back, and a finance reconciling problem.
The matrix comes from your analytics: the phones and browsers that actually buy. A checkout that works on desktop Chrome and dies on iOS Safari is a peak-season surprise you can find in week one.
Need a checkout that holds on the devices that already convert?
Book a CallThe defects that only show up on Shopify Plus, Magento, WooCommerce or a headless stack. Not a generic store test.
You do not control the hosted checkout core. We test what your theme, apps, checkout extensibility and Plus scripts actually do around it: payments, shipping, discounts, validation and the thank you path. Plus changes the surface: checkout customisation, Launch, and B2B. If a flow is locked by Shopify, that is in the design before the quote, not a surprise in week two.
Multi-store views, catalog indexing and cache behaviour are where Magento breaks under load. A store that is fine at 50 concurrent sessions can stall when indexers lag or a second storefront shares the same catalog. We test those joins, not only the Luma or Hyva theme.
Plugin conflicts are the dominant defect class: payment, shipping, membership and page-builder plugins that pass on their own and fail together at checkout. We treat the plugin set as the product, because that is what your customer actually runs.
The front end and the commerce API fail independently. We test both: the storefront the shopper sees, and the cart, checkout and inventory APIs it calls. A green UI on a stale API is how custom stacks lose orders without an error on screen. Build work, when you need it, sits on ecommerce solutions.
Checkout under last year's peak, six to eight weeks before the sale, so there is time to fix what fails.
Traffic is modelled from last year's own analytics, not a flat script. The checkout and payment path runs under peak concurrency, not the home page. The promotion that will actually run is in the test. We also test the failure mode: what the site does when the payment provider slows down, rather than when it fails cleanly.
Six to eight weeks before Black Friday, Cyber Monday or your own sale. The test is the short part. The fixes, the retest and the payment-provider conversation take the rest. Starting in November for a late-November peak is how stores find the bottleneck on the day.
A Mumbai supplements retailer: 40% faster pages and 50% more mobile conversions after performance work ahead of peak traffic. The same discipline applies to a US sale day: checkout first, then the rest of the site.
The gateway you run, the scripts on the payment page, and evidence that would stand a PCI DSS conversation. We do not certify anyone.
Authorise, capture, fail, refund and timeout on the gateway you run. Tokenisation and what is stored on your side versus the provider. A stored PAN you did not mean to keep is the finding that matters.
Injection and session attacks on the checkout, plus the third-party scripts on the payment page. Those scripts are the most common route to a card-skimming incident. Agreed in-scope assets only.
We test whether your controls and evidence would stand up to a PCI DSS conversation. That is not a certificate. If you need a QSA, that is a different vendor. Compliance testing is the sibling page for the wider control set.
A checkout a screen-reader user cannot finish is a lost sale. That is the retail case for ADA, not a legal memo.
Keyboard and screen-reader completion of search, product, cart, checkout and payment. Labels, errors and focus that a shopper can actually use. If the path fails, the sale fails, and in US retail that is also where claims concentrate.
The only vendor on this search that builds ecommerce and tests it, with US retail numbers a buyer can check.
